§ 6-29. Reciprocity.

  • Registered contractors with competency cards issued by Florida municipalities or counties that require a score of seventy-five (75) percent or greater on the licensing exam and have entered into a licensing reciprocity agreement with Sumter County shall be issued a Sumter County Competency Card, assuming all other requirements of this article, section and the Sumter County Code have been met. The licensing exam which forms the basis for reciprocity must be provided by an examination provider acceptable to Sumter County. The examination provider shall administer examinations in accordance with acceptable standards and the examinations shall be administered in a proctored environment. In addition to any other requirements of this article, contractors requesting a competency card through reciprocity shall be required to provide authorization to the building official, or his/her designee, to conduct a credit check and criminal history/background check. Applicants under this section shall also be required to show proof of exam results, proof of insurance at the levels required by other similarly situated contractors, and shall be required to comply with all other conditions and requirements of this article and the Sumter County Code. The fee for issuance of a competency card under this section shall be set by the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners.
